    Looking for any information on Margaret Armstrong married to William White in Riccarton but moved to Galston at the end of her life. Found living in Galston on the 1861 Census with John Adam Martha James Agness her children. Margaret was born about 1812 in Kilmarnock but on the 1841 Census said she was born in Ireland????? Any help will be really be appreciated. Thankyou

    There was Cuthbertson who moved to Greensboro, Vermont, USA, in 1850’s. Urie is a known family here also: a John Urie was hired along with a whole textile factory of Paisley in the 1830’s. So he moved first to Lowell, Massachusetts and then to Vermont. There are dozens of his descendants here still.
    My grandfather’s mother here in Vermont was Ann Boyd. Her father Robert Boyd was born Irvine Oct 19, 1791 to Robert Boyd/ Isobel Hamilton. I know nothing else of them. Robert senior’s occupation listed as sailor. My Robert enlisted in Seaforth Highlanders about 1811, served for about 16 years then invalided out and moved to Greensboro, Vermont, USA.

    I have just joined the Ayrshire FHS.
    I am researching the following names – CUTHBERTSON, URIE, WILSON, WALLACE, DICK, BOYD.
    I live in New Zealand and my great grandparents arrived in New Zealand in 1861 by the ship Robert Henderson. Most of the Scottish family lived in the Kilmarnock area.
    Hugh CUTHBERTSON and his wife Marion URIE left a few days after their marriage and had thriteen children, all born in New Zealand. There were nine daughters and four sons.
    I am sure that there will be some people who will be related to the family?

    While researching recently, I came across William Hunter’s family living at 4 Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock in the 1911 Census.

    3 rooms with more than 1 window. Married for 24 years. 8 children born alive; 7 still living.

    Good Morning from Adelaide!
    A big thank you to Ian Wilson for the info on Scottish Directories, I searched and found two Good brothers who are mine. I would advise all to search them as there is a lot of Killie names in those directories. Also need help I am stuck at John Good( M) jean Brown 1792 after sin of antinuptial fornication. (sad) I am trying to find any other info, death dates, Parents, jobs, poor house app’s anything you can help me with would be much appreciated. I know they had William Good 1793. Thank You

    Good Mornig,
    This is my first visit to the site as I have just received my “entry” details, found it reasonably easy to get in.

    Now a question. My grandmother Marion Morton was born in Darvel C1867 and Married my Grandfather Peter Craig who was a school teacher in Darvel in the late 1890’s. I have been told many times there are very many Mortons in Darvel and that it is difficult to sort out which are the right lot. Her Father and Grandfather were shoemakers. My Name is Marion Smith and I look forward to any comments. Thanks

      Marion MORTON who married Peter CRAIG are on my database with Marion’s father as Archibald and Helen nee Craig. My data base goes back (on this line) to Hugh MORTON b.c1746.
