Since my last post about my grandfather, Alexander Maxwell Longwill, I’ve managed to trace my paternal line back to a John Longwill 1770 Campbeltown Argyle – 1822 Dalry, Ayreshire (?). I think I know his parents as John Longwill and Janat Ryburn (?). Interestingly, there was a diversion to Langwill for 3 generations.
The problem I’m experiencing is the lack or lost details once you get to parish records as opposed to statutory records. Parental, birth, death and marraige dates are often missing. Can anyone suggest where I might go for more accurate information?
